How to Close Doors

Closing doors is relatively easy and is something that impostors should abuse to mess with crewmates. When you are the imposter, once your sabotage skill comes off cooldown, select it to bring up a map of the level. On the map in each room, you will see various door symbols with a bright red X on them. Clicking on this symbol will cause all the doors with access to that room to shut and temporarily lock. Once the doors are shut you will have exactly 10 seconds before they reopen for everyone on the map. Additionally, after you lock a door, that specific door will enter a cooldown period before it can be used again.

Doors are terrific for trapping people to ensure a kill or to stop anyone from wandering into the room right after you commit a murder. I strongly recommend you only lock people in rooms where there is a vent you can use to escape from. Otherwise, when the doors open and people flood inside you’ll easily be discovered as the imposter. Always have the escape route planned before you murder anyone. One of my favorite tricks is to trap someone, quickly kill them, and then join the group outside the locked door. This makes you appear to be apart of the group, shifting suspicion from you to another player. Remember, you can close doors as a ghost if you are an imposter. This is great for if there is more than one imposter in the crew. 

How to Sabotage

As for sabotaging, this is done by clicking the sabotage button once it’s filled and then selecting one of the faculties available via the map. This will start a 30-second countdown where the crewmates need to repair this device. If they succeed the sabotage will be stopped, however, those who failed to fix whatever’s broken will cause the imposter to win. You cannot close doors when a sabotage is active and this ability will go on cooldown after it has been used.

I recommend using sabotages as a way to create chaos and open up opportunities to kill targets in both the early and late game. Try to activate a sabotage and then kill someone who is on their way to the machines. Then use the vent to warp yourself over to the afflicted area so it seems as if you’ve been there the whole time. Remember, sabotages also deactivate the emergency discussion button, so use this to your advantage if someone spots you killing another player. It’s not a great method of delaying a debate, but it can be useful in a pinch.
