Hosting Game

You can host the game by clicking on Online and Host A Game. You will be provided various options where you can select the maximum player participation (i.e. 10) and Impostors (i.e. 3).

Once you have created the lobby, you can customize your lobby via laptop as shown in the above image and customize your lobby settings. The code mentioned below can be shared to your friends which let them join in your lobby. Though you can choose to keep your lobby private or public. The game supports WiFi and can create private lobbies which allow players to connect via there Code.

Among Us Gameplay

The admin can start the game, which will trigger a random selection of 1 Impostor and 9 Crewmates which is a standard setting. The Impostor has the ability to kill and hide in the small vents waiting for his prey to walk in alone. To make the game more interesting, the in-game chat is disabled and whenever there is an Emergency meeting, the in-game chat is enabled.

As mentioned above in-game chat can only accessed when there is an Emergency Meeting. To initiate Emergency Meeting, you can either press the Use button in the Cafeteria where you spawn or find a dead corpse of your fellow crewmate and press Report.

There would be enough time provided to chat and decide whom to vote. The player who gets the maximum vote will be thrown out from the spaceship and if the Impostor is caught you all will naturally win. If the Impostor is still not caught the game continues until there is only one Crewmate left.

Win Condition:

Crewmate- Catch The Impostor, or Complete The Tasks to win.

Impostor- Kill (n-1) Crewmates whereas n is the total number of Crewmates. For example, there is a total of 10 players, 1 is Impostor and 9 is Crewmate. So, if the Impostor manages to eliminate 8 Crewmate, he wins.

How To Use Map Or Know Where The Tasks Are Located

There is a Map icon below the settings button. On the map, you can check and see where your designated tasks are situated. You can travel through rooms watching your map, completing your task as soon as possible. The long task or the tasks who have multiple assignments like- Fix The Wire (0/3). Once you complete the first wire task, the remaining two wires location would be indicated to you on the screen with yellow indicators.

Among Us How To Catch The Impostor

You can periodically watch the security cameras in the Security room which shows whoever passes through the hallway or enter any room. You can judge whether they leave alone from that room or you can catch the Impostor committing the crime on the alley where the cameras are focused.

The Impostor does not focus on completing any task and want to isolate a crewmate and kill him. To avoid such situation, you can be aware and as soon as it’s possible, complete your task and watch security cameras to catch the culprit. You may take turns with your friend, but are you sure he is trustworthy?

The game involves treachery and instantaneous judgment skills. The less the crewmate alive, the more the possibility of catching the Impostor. On another way around, the less the crewmate alive, the more is the chance for the Impostor to win. So, there is literally no advantage for any side.

If you are new and currently searching for a game which will last for 5-10 minutes, then we recommend it’s perfect for you. There are in-game cosmetics which requires micro-transaction. It especially not pays to win the game which does not spoil any fun for the players. If you are on a vacation or on a picnic and want some game which involves a group, then this is a perfect choice for you.

Tip #1: Don't stand out!

First of all, don't stand out and arouse your crewmates' suspicions. That means don't follow potential victims around or wandering about and doing nothing. You'll want to pretend like you're completing tasks, so stand next to computers and engines.

Furthermore, join discussions, primarily when a body has been found. Your silence could lead to your elimination.

The bottom line is, you'll want to look innocent and act as if you want to win the game as a team and eliminate someone.

Tip #2: Act clueless instead of blaming others

(Photo : InnerSloth/Facebook)
You'll want to deceive others into believing you're innocent.

Here's the thing: you can blame others. That will most likely happen, and many of your crewmates will start blaming others, as well.

However, the hard part with blaming someone is that they might have a solid alibi, and you'll end up raising suspicions because of the lie. So, what you'll want to do instead is act clueless. Ask others where they are, what they have been doing, and who they think is the Impostor and agree with them.

Tip #3: Always shut the door!

Your main goal as an Impostor is to sabotage your crewmates' hard work and kill innocent victims--and of course, you need to do it without being detected.

Sabotage their work whenever you find an opportunity, such as killing the lights and actively putting up barriers. Also, always shut the door, especially when you're about to kill a crewmate. This increases your chance of not getting caught and making a speedy escape.

Tip #4: Know who to kill

You'll definitely want to leave the newbies behind and target the veterans first, seeing as they most likely know the game well enough and can quickly pinpoint the Impostors.

Tip #5: Mind who's watching you

Of course, you'll want to avoid being seen killing an innocent crewmate--either by another player or the multitude of security cameras around the map.

You can easily tell if someone is watching the security feed since the camera would flash red. So, always check the cameras if you're about to do something an Impostor would only do--and that includes using the vent.

If you're caught using the vent, it's a dead giveaway that you're the Impostor, especially since it's an Impostor-only ability. Try to avoid using it too much and only use it to escape if you really must. Plus, you should also avoid getting off of vents from open areas, including the cafe or the administration room.

Here's how you can be the best Crewmate possible.

5. COMPLETE TASKS AND DO THEM QUICKLY

When you begin a game of Among Us, you and your crewmates will be assigned numerous tasks to complete. Complete them quickly, to make sure there's nothing distracting your team if the Imposter can thin your numbers.

If you're doing tasks, each one can be used as an alibi when somebody is inevitably slain by the imposter. The imposter cannot complete tasks

If you're close to somebody who's seemingly completing a task, make sure to watch the taskbar in the upper left corner. If the taskbar doesn't increase after somebody walks away from a task, they're probably the imposter.

4. GET VERIFIED

Certain tasks have a visual element to them, which appears after the task has been completed. This acts as an in-game verification method to differentiate the imposter from a regular crewmate.

Watch your teammates complete tasks with visual elements to make sure that they're on your side. Alternatively, you can complete these tasks with a witness present to assure your teammates you're on their side. Here's every task that verifies you and the maps they're available on.

Skeld

  • Empty Garbage (found in O2 and Cafeteria) — Garbage will be seen being released into space from Storage
  • Submit Scan (found in Medbay) — A green disc will appear around the player while being scanned.
  • Prime Shields (found in Shields) — The lights on the starboard will begin to shine
  • Clear Astroids (found in Weapons) — You can see the guns firing on the starboard.

Mira HQ

Submit Scan (Found in Medbay) — A green disc will appear around the player while being scanned.

Polus

Submit Scan (found in Medbay / Laboratory) — A green disc will appear around the player while being scanned.
Clear Astroids (found in Weapons) — You can see the guns firing on the port.

3. WATCH THE VENTS

Just as only crewmates can complete tasks, only the imposter can travel using vents.

Watch the vents, which can be found throughout the map on the ground. You've likely spotted an imposter if you see a player lingering by a vent, popping out of one, or hopping into one.

2. STAY IN PAIRS

In addition to being unable to do tasks, the imposter has a kill countdown. They cannot kill two Crewmates successively without revealing themselves. If you remain in pairs, the imposter will have to reveal themselves to eliminate either person in the pair. Your traveling companion will also give you an alibi for when a body is found, further narrowing down suspects.

If four or more Crewmates are alive once you begin traveling in pairs, this will also protect your group from being too divided if the imposter attempts to split you up via sabotage.

1. WATCH FROM THE ADMIN ROOM

One of the best ways to counter those scary imposters roaming your ship is by keeping a direct eye on the whole ship. Head to the Admin room to access security cameras and a detailed map showing all locations of other players. If you can keep an eye on this for a while, you might be able to spot other players doing something suspicious, possibly outing them as an Imposter.

HERE ARE FIVE ENTRY-LEVEL STRATEGIES TO BEGIN YOUR REIGN OF TERROR AS AN IMPOSTER IN AMONG US.

5. VOTE JUDICIOUSLY

Avoiding suspicion is just as important as netting crafty kills in Among Us. The easiest way to raise eyebrows is aggressively voting when there's no solid evidence against a player you want out. Being the only one to cast a vote to eject someone or constantly pushing to vote someone off will almost certainly result in you getting booted out in the next meeting.

When in doubt, push the crewmates to skip on voting someone off but always vote with the group if they're convinced of someone's guilt. This might result in being forced to cast a vote for a fellow imposter to blend into the crew.

That might lower your odds of winning, but at least you're still breathing.

When you're the imposter, your name and all other imposters' names will be in red text. Innersloth

4. CHOOSE YOUR VICTIMS WISELY

Going for an easy kill with no witnesses is typically advised. However, as a game progresses there might be crewmates you want to make top-priority targets and others that you want to spare to help you blend in.

Imposters can't complete any tasks, which means tasks with visible animations (Clearing Meteorites, Empty Garbage, Prime Shields, and Submit Scan) instantly prove someone's innocence. You want to eliminate anyone who has been seen doing these tasks because they are the most trusted crewmates in the game.

On the other hand, you want to spare crewmates that others find suspicious even if you find yourself in a situation where you can kill them easily. This allows you to alleviate early pressure, misdirect accusations to a scapegoat crewmate, and even set up for a 50-50 scenario where one crewmate needs to cast the deciding vote to win the game based on your word against the other players'.

Venting can be extremely useful but it can also get you called out.Innersloth

3. VENT BODY CAMP

As an imposter, you can use vents to quickly move around any of the maps on Among Us. These fast-travel locations are only useable by killers and are an instant giveaway if you're caught jumping in or out of one, but they can be used for some sinister tactics ... like vent body camping.

This strategy relies on killing an isolated target near a vent and then immediately sabotaging something that leads crewmates away from the body. Then you'll want to hide nearby and wait for your Kill ability to become available again before jumping into the vent directly under the body to wait for your next victim. When someone walks nearby, immediately jump out and kill them to keep them from reporting the body.

This strategy works well on the Polus map. You can kill someone doing the wiring task in Laboratory, sabotage the lights, then hop in the Lab vent to wait for another crewmate. Be sure not to lurk in vents for too long though, or other players will eventually vote you off because they simply haven't seen you around.

2. CROWD KILL

If you're struggling to find an isolated crewmate, go for a crowd kill by gathering at least four crewmates in one area. That can be done by sabotaging either lights or comms on any of the maps in Among Us.

When everyone is stacked on top of each other, fake doing the task to repair the sabotage for a second or two and then knife someone in the back. The kill will be reported instantly and most of the time it will be difficult to tell who did it, which can result in a bad ejection or a skip.

Do not overuse this strategy because if you're always around when there's a crowd kill crewmates will catch on that you're behind them.

1. SABOTAGE FOR FINAL KILLS

Finally, if it's ever one imposter versus two crewmates or three crewmates versus two imposters, you've essentially won the game. All you need to do is call one last sabotage and net the final kill.

Activate a fatal emergency (which causes crewmates to lose the game if they aren't stopped), like a reactor meltdown or O2 failure. Both of these sabotages require two crewmates to split off to stop them, which means someone will be alone and can freely be killed to win the game.

Imposters can activate a sabotage before crewmates can call an emergency meeting, so as soon as a 2 vs. 1 or 3 vs. 2 round begins immediately sabotage reactor or O2 to secure the game. Congratulations, you're a cold-blooded assassin.

Among Us: Basics of the game

On average, five to ten players are suitable for playing the game, with ten being the highest possible number. Players are divided into Imposters and Crewmates, and these roles are randomly assigned. Crewmates need to perform tasks or bust Imposters, while Imposters need to kill the Crewmates until there is an equal number of Crewmates and Imposters on the ship.

Imposters have the special ability to use “vents” in the game. They can travel through these vents, which add more stealth to their movement. Players can explore different levels of these ventilation systems in various maps.

A Sabotage activates a fatal emergency in the game, like a reactor meltdown or oxygen failure and Crewmates lose if they are unable to stop these. Two Crewmates need to split to stop them, which means another Crewmate will be alone and Imposters can freely kill them. This is a decent strategy for Imposters to win.

Crewmates need to be efficient in performing their tasks, and if they are able to perform all of these, the crew wins. The crew can trigger meetings to discuss and vote out the Imposters. They can either press the red button in the spawning room or hit the horn on the bottom right of a corpse. Communication becomes very important in these meetings.

Crewmates can effectively spot fellow crewmates by noticing “visual tasks” that only Crewmen can activate. Players can add this to their game from the settings.

Everyone must follow these rules to make the game fair and fun

Every friend group should start a game only after setting up some basic rules. These rules are to be followed by everyone and they might vary across groups. However, some of these rules are widely acknowledged:

  • Players should refrain from talking when not voting and should, most preferably, turn off their mic
  • Crewmates should play more individually, or it becomes impossible to win as an Imposter
  • Argue with everyone, but always remember that it is just a game

Try to balance game dynamics through flexible game settings

There are no ‘ideal’ settings in the game, but Among Us is truly fun only when both the Crew and the Imposters have an equal chance of winning.

Recommended settings also work fine in the start, and groups can figure out their preferences with experience. Settings include discussion time, kill cooldown, vision range, and the number of tasks to be performed by the Crew.

Every setting has different effects on the game, and players will understand these effects as they continue playing. However, deciding the ratio of Imposters to Crew members is very important. Even that may vary across groups, but the standardized ratios are:

  • One imposter to seven Crew members
  • Two imposters to eight Crew members are fair, and the same works in a lobby of 10 players

With these settings, tips, and tricks, all beginners can enjoy the game to its fullest. With experience, the game grants enough space to try out new things and ways of playing. Maybe that is the reason behind the rise of Among Us.

The Skeld Map

Above is the general layout of The Skeld’s map. At the beginning of the game and after each discussion, players will start in the cafeteria. From here they can branch out to any of the thirteen additional rooms to complete their tasks. Every corridor features doorways that the imposters can lock, making it impossible for crewmate to pass through until an invisible timer expires. One of the most important rooms on the map is the Admin room, as this contains a map players can interact with to see where everyone is. This includes when imposters use vents to jump between locations, making it a handy sleuthing tool for the savvy player.

Additionally, there are fourteen vents that the imposters can use. All of the vents aren’t connected, so knowing where they go will be important if you want to escape suspicion after a clean kill. Below is a map of The Skeld with the vent locations marked in red and which vents are connected in green.  I strongly recommend either memorizing or having this map present when you are playing. The last thing you want is to kill someone and pop out in a vent where people are! Always, always, always make sure no one is around you when exiting a vent.

The Skeld Beginner Tips

The Skeld is a big map and it’s easy to get lost as you roam the hallways. Try to complete your tasks in either a counter-clockwise or clockwise rotation if you are a crewmate. This will let you quickly pick up where you left off after meetings and keep you from aimlessly wandering throughout the level. Additionally, there are three minigames that have visual signifiers that other users can see when you finish them. These are the medical scan in Medbay, destroying asteroids in Weapons, and flushing out the garbage in Storage.

Save these tasks for after your first discussion with the crew. Since imposters cannot physically complete tasks, you can prove you’re not a killer by showing the rest of the crew via the visual signifiers. This is perfect for driving away suspicion while giving you more power during discussions if you call someone out. As for imposters, you’ll want to try and isolate players who foolish roam by themselves. Make use of the vents to jump around the level right after a kill. Also, try to stay with the group or have a plausible alibi that others can corroborate.

For example, say you want to kill someone in Electrical, but there is a group in the Reactor. Hangout in the reactor for a few seconds so people see you, then quickly go to Security, use the vent, kill the crewmate in Electrical and then take the vent back so you can join the group. This makes it seem as if you’ve been either with or near the group so you couldn’t possibly have killed that poor bastard in Electrical. You always want to have an excuse, otherwise, people will most likely send your butt hurtling into the void!

MIRA HQ Map

Unlike The Skeld, MIRA HQ is a much smaller and more intimate map. This makes it the most difficult of the three Among Us maps to win as an imposter in a big group. When the round starts, players will either spawn at the Launchpad or in the Cafeteria. There are only a few hallways, meaning you won’t have as much space to run around as you normally would. Additionally, the Communications room acts as MIRA HQ’s Admin room, allowing players to view a log that constantly updates with each players location. While this might appear to be a downgrade of The Skeld’s admin room, it’s actually perfect for tracking an individual person you might be suspicious of.

As for vents, MIRA HQ is rather unique since the entire network is connected. There are a total of eleven vents on this map and you can use them to reach anywhere on the map. This makes it much easier to get away, just be careful as you can easily become spotted emerging from one of these holes. Finally, the last big twist is the Decontamination hallway near the middle of the map. Entering this will lock both doors for a brief period, trapping anyone inside until the doors open. Use this to your advantage to split up teams or trap an unaware target! You can see all the MIRA HQ vents below marked in red along with the routes they’re connected to in green.

MIRA HQ Beginner Tips

MIRA HQ is a fairly tricky map to master, as the confined spaces don’t leave a lot of room for Imposters to isolate targets. Because of this, you’ll want to make use of the maps ventilation system to zip around the location until you find someone wandering alone. Keep in mind, there’s a greater chance that everyone will have a general idea where each player is. This makes having an alibi even more important than on other maps, so don’t hide in the vents all game. Make sure players can see you wander around and “completing” tasks, otherwise, you’ll be easy to single out.

The Decontamination hallway is perfect for killers since there’s a brief period when someone is trapped inside there. If you know someone is going in alone, use the vent to appear, kill them, then quickly make your escape to another room. This the only real place you won’t risk someone stumbling onto your nefarious deeds.

Inversely, crewmates should stick in pairs or a large group whenever possible. This makes it tougher for the imposters to kill players unless everyone is stacked right on top of one another. Just like The Skeld, the MedBay’s medical scan task will visually show everyone you’re not an imposter. Use this to your advantage and only complete this task when multiple people are watching. Doing so will lift any suspicion off you and let you have more power during the debates.  Try to enter the Decontamination with a minimum of three people (or someone you know is a crewmate) to lower the risk of being murdered by the imposter.

It will take practice, but eventually, you’ll be able to easily navigate this claustrophobic skyscraper with confidence.
